Stool Barcelona, L. M. van Der Rohe 1929 Bauhaus furniture
L. M. van der Rohe designed the Barcelona stool to match the Barcelona armchair for the German pavilion at the 1929 World's Fair in Barcelona. The Barcelona furniture was dedicated to the reception of the Spanish royal couple.
The design was inspired by the classic X-shaped scissor chairs from the Roman Empire.
For the Barcelona armchair as well as the stool is characteristic the sophisticated design in the contrary to the opulent, leather-upholstered seating area and the springy acting undercarriage. Complex processing of individual leather squares. You have a choice of leather upholstery in 3 qualities (Standard, Soft leather and Aniline leather), black or brown pony skin and fabric as well.
